Patient Care Tech

Because of the growing demand for skilled Patient Care Technicians in hospitals and healthcare facilities, KCSP offers a comprehensive Patient Care Technician program designed for students of all experience levels. This hybrid program combines online lectures with in-person skills training, allowing students to build foundational knowledge while gaining hands-on experience in direct patient care. Through practical instruction and real-world skill development, students are prepared to confidently support nurses and healthcare teams while delivering safe, compassionate, and professional care in a variety of clinical settings.


Program objectives include:
  • Collect, monitor, and record patient vital signs, intake and output, and other relevant information
  • Assist with patient hygiene, personal care, and activities of daily living
  • Assist with medical procedures and diagnostic tests
  • Perform technical tasks such as EKGs, phlebotomy, point of care testing, and specimen collections
  • Assist patients with mobility and ambulation, including transferring patients
  • Collaborate with healthcare team to create and implement patient care plans
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families
  • Demonstrate knowledge of infection control and safety
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology

Patient Care Technician Programs Admissions Requirements:

    The 11-Week Patient Care Tech program consists of the following parts:

    Lecture Skills Lab Assessments
    Live instructor-led sessions twice a week for 11 weeks, with each session lasting 4 hours. Selected skills are delivered through online instructional modules only that include videos and images to support visual learning. Quizzes and homework are required and given weekly online.
    Lectures occur live, delivered online, at scheduled times, allowing real-time interaction with the instructor and classmates. Certain skills are first taught online allowing students to see procedures step by step before practicing them during in-person skills training. Comprehensive multiple-choice final examination.
    Students are expected to log into the learning management system on their own time to complete modules, review learning materials, and read assigned content. Vital signs, EKG, Phlebotomy, and patient interaction simulations will be performed in person on site at the school. Final evaluation of clinical skills at the end of the program for EKG, Vitals, and Phlebotomy.

    Payment Plans

    Payment plans are available to divide the cost of the program over the time you are enrolled. These plans are provided at no additional cost and available to all students. You can choose one of the three payment plans listed below to pay for your enrollment in the Patient Care Technician program at KCSP:

    The following is the break-down for tuition and fees for the Patient Care Technician program:

    • Registration fee: $100
    • Tuition: $800
    • Laboratory Fee: $300
    • Supplies: $250
    • Instructional Materials: $150
    Registration fee is due to hold your seat in the program and is nonrefundable after 3 business days.

    Certification

    • Students who successfully complete the program graduate with a Patient Care Technician Certificate, demonstrating competency in the knowledge and skills required of a Patient Care Tech.
    • Graduates are also eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) national certification exam to earn the Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) credential. Passing the national certification exam is not required for employment; however, it may provide newly graduated students with a competitive advantage in the workforce. Students who wish to take the NHA exam must register and pay directly through the NHA website at www.nhanow.com
